Introduction

The International Business Manaement is a practical program which allows students to develop general business skills across a wide range of business function that are relevant to real-life work situations. This qualification is suited to those with little or no work experience, who would like to further develop in order to gain further educational and employment opportunities.

Course Format

The course is offered in a modular format, which allows you to complete each module, one at a time.
There are 6 core modules and 3 elective modules. For each module, students will attend lectures for 10 hours per week over 3 weeks term. There will be a 2 week study recess before the final term examination. Elective subjects allow specialization in: Human Resources, International Business or Marketing.

Core Course Modules

HRM 101 Human Resource Management
This course examines the fundamentals policies and administration of HRM. Major tasks of procedures and developing, maintaining and utilizing an effective team are studied. Students are introduced to international human resource management. Topics include human resource planning and the recruitment, selection, development, compensation, and appraisal of employees.

PMG170 Introduction to Project Management
Participants in this module with gain a working knowledge of the basics of project management that can be instantly applied to any project. This course will provide the skills to ensure your projects deliver on time and on budget. Learn to define and manage scope via the elicitation of requirements and the creation of a detailed work breakdown structure, create a defensible and realistic project schedule and budget, develop and manage the project team, identify and manage risks, and understand the project procurement processes.

PMG150 Operations Management
This module will provide students with both a theoretical and practical understanding of how operations can be managed strategically in the light of external and internal conditions and requirements. This module will equip students with a framework for understanding production and operations management as activities within the context of a firm’s competitive strategy. Specifically the module will compare and contrast manufacturing and services.

PMG160 Strategic Planning for Project Management
Participants will be introduced to the principles of strategic planning and processes for formulating and implementing decisions about an organization’s future direction. Students will learn about the critical success factors for strategic planning and the cause of failures.

BUS130 Business Plan Development
The module is designed to help you develop an effective implementation plan for a new business venture by integrating aspects of finance, marketing, and operations into a cohesive "game plan" that reflects the concept's viability and business model, the environment in which the firm operates, and the expertise of the management team to execute the plan.

BUS110 Financial Management
Financial Management examines how value is measured, created, and maximized. Beginning with an introduction to accounting, instruction covers the fundamentals of measuring and reporting revenue, costs, cash flow, assets, liabilities, and equity. Explores the financial decisions that management must make, including break-even analysis, budgeting, investment in assets, and funding with debt equity.

BUS100 Communications and Team Development
Today's leaders must be skilled in both communicating with diverse audiences and maintaining effective teams in order to succeed in a technology organization. Communications topics include addressing technical and non-technical audiences using presentations, interpersonal skills, and writing skills. Team development instruction focuses on managing teams, identifying and understanding the leadership role, the importance of shared leadership, product teams, and team decision-making.

Exciting managerial careers and opportunities exist in the constantly evolving business world. Good managers keep pace with change and motivate their teams to achieve superior outcomes. Understanding and adapting to change and creating innovative approaches to solving workplace problems are all part of the role of the 21st century manager.

Graduates of this program are able to use their skills across both public and private sector firms as actions such as strategic planning, setting objectives, controlling finances, developing efficient operations, managing the market, developing information systems and understanding human resources are all essential skills of management. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include: Manager or Team Leader.
