Introduction

The aim of this course is to provide participants with both conceptual and theoretical understanding of hospitality and tourism operation management. It is suited for those who wish to acquire some core skills and fundamental knowledge about hospitality and tourism business or as the first step into tertiary education specialising in this area of study.

Objectives

  • Provide a challenging, stimulating and self-rewarding study environment.
  • Provide a framework whereby individual study paths may be varied by means of a choice from a small range of options.
  • Develop a range of keys skill by means of opportunities provided in the study units.
  • Accommodate student needs in relation to maximising their career potential by enabling them to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in their chosen subject area.


Structure

There are 12 lessons in total. The lessons will provide students with a macro view of the hospitality and tourism industry, and its various key sectors. They also touch on the fundamentals of the business as well as information on products, procedures, technology and careers in the industry.

  • Planning, Organising, Directing and Control in MEEC


Duration

The approximate course duration for the Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism is 8 months.

Assesments

The assessment of a student during the course will be based on the following:

Testing of the core knowledge is largely through assignment work.
